I found that creating my own patterns wasn't quite as easy as I had expected it to play out as. There is quite a lot of mucking around in between trying to recover what you might have just deleted by mistake because there are so many different lines, layers etc..
The leaf pattern was a lot easier than the rose pattern. I started off with the leaf pattern, which helped be get into pattern making a bit easier than if I was to start off by creating the rose pattern. I understood the process after creating the leaf pattern and then went on to challenge myself a little bit by creating something slightly harder, and with colour also!
This is the outcome:
Leaf (Olive Cafe)
Rose (Picnic Cafe)
Overall I actually quite like both the patterns, although I think the leaf one stands out to me (and it has no colour) this is purely because I like the style I created it in, as well as it just look quite effective when in the repetitive format, which it wouldn't look as effective if the leaf design was by itself.
On the other hand the repetitive rose pattern doesn't work quite as well. I think it looks a bit much/ overwhelming to me, and would look better in a single format (by itself) due to it being a complex looking design.
